Jesus and The Bible Come First!
God has given us His revelation to man through The Bible. Through God's inerrant Word, The Bible, we know of God's will, (both what to do, and what not to do). For example, The Bible tells us to not lie, to not steal, not to commit sexual immorality, and to not worship idols. (Exodus 20). Now, an idol is anything that is worshiped or honored more than God. Jesus is God. Therefore, whatever we worship, trust, or exalt more than Jesus is the wicked sin of idolatry.
Now, most people are idolaters. Perhaps they do not place a statue of the Buddha in in their living room and bow down and worship it, but they are still idolaters nevertheless. You too, are probably an idolater. You are an idolater if you worship, trust, or give honor to something in your life above Jesus.
If you trust your money more than God, then money is your idol, and you are an idolater. If you love and honor your family more than God, then your family is an idol and you are an idolater. If you love dirty sex and refuse to give it up because you love it more than Jesus, then you too are an idolater. Whatever you love, whatever you honor, whatever is more important than Jesus in your life is your idol and you are an idolater.
Now Fundamentalist Baptists are Independent, Fundamental Baptists who believe that Jesus and the Bible come first. Fundamentalists believe that Jesus and the Bible come before the family, before making money, before everything in life that most people hold so dear.
Because the Fundamentalist Baptist places Jesus and the Bible before all other authority and affections in this world, there are very few Fundamentalist Baptists in this world. Pagans live to commit sin. Pagans certainly do not put Jesus and the Bible first in their lives. Roman Catholics put tradition and the words of the Pope before Jesus and the Bible. New Evangelicals such as James Dobson, place the "family first". Other New Evangelicals place their pastor first, their careers first, their pleasure first, or something else as an idol before Jesus and the Bible. No, very few people want to be Fundamentalist Baptists, because very few people are willing to put away their idols and give first place in their lives to Jesus and the Bible.
But the standards of a Fundamentalist Baptist lie squarely upon Gods' Word, The Bible. The Bible alone is sufficient to make a Christian complete. We are not ashamed therefore of Christ and the Bible, as are so many so-called Christians today. Jesus alone has the words of life. Jesus and the Bible come first to the Fundamentalist Baptist.
Perhaps you have placed many things before Jesus Christ. You have committed other wicked sins as well. You have lied. You have stolen. You have missed church. You have fornicated. You have done many, many wicked sins. God sees your sins. God has written them down in His books in Heaven. God will bring them to His remembrance one day (rather soon) when you die and stand before God's Great White Throne Judgment. Then you will receive the punishment you are richly due, for your idolatry and other wicked sins. You will be cast into Hell to burn there forever as God's punishment for your sins.
Whatever you love in your life, (and whatever you think should be more important than Jesus and the Bible), will fail you one day. But Jesus will never fail you. His Words are settled in Heaven. When Jesus therefore says that anyone coming to Him will have eternal life, Jesus can be trusted. Therefore, turn from your sins. Turn from your wicked idolatry. Come and trust Jesus today. Then find a good Fundamentalist Baptist church to become a member of, and remember that Jesus and the Bible always come first!
